THE CHALLENGE OF UPSCALING

Tecnalia presented PLATFORM project at “Nanotechnologies and Advanced Materials for Regional Growth – The Challenge of upscaling” workshop held in Brussels. Tecnalia was invited to present the PLATFORM project as a concrete case of existing pilot lines.

The workshop aimed at discussing and exploring synergies between H2020 and ESIF that could support the uptake of the nanotech and advanced materials pilot lines and their services in order to boost regional investments and new business.

The workshop brought together:

  • Regional Authorities which have smart specialization strategies dealing with nanotechnology and advanced materials and/or have Horizon 2020 pilot lines in the region. Special attention will be given to including regions from EU13.
  • Coordinators, exploitation leaders, pilot line developers and key industrial partners from running Horizon 2020 pilot projects and FP7 pilot projects.
  • Other relevant key stakeholders

One of the main conclusions of the workshop was the need to engage industry, SME’s, public and private investors in dialogue with the consortia that have completed or are running projects on pilot lines. The purpose is to develop a favourable ecosystem for materials upscaling. This in turn will support regional growth through fast deployment of new technologies.
